About Open Hands

Open Hand School is a small but growing vocational school in Quezon City that serves a community of young adults with special needs: developmental disorders such as Autism, ADHD, Asperger’s Syndrome, Learning Disabilities and Down’s Syndrome. Our purpose has always been to advocate and lead by example, inclusivity for people with special needs by making them functional and productive.

We envision a village hub that will be a safe place for the community and our special needs students and employees to interact, support and learn from each other.

₱ 2,000

The businesses in the hub will serve basic community needs: deli and café, co-working spaces, commissary, plants and gardens, arts and crafts, printing services.

By turning the tables and having people with special needs serving the community, we want to shift the conversation from PITY to PRIDE.

₱ 10,000

We see this as a way to teach others about positive imaging for persons with special needs and to allow our students to engage in work activities in a supported environment.

The model is also a way for parents to explore possible avenues of entrepreneurship, and for them to discover, along with their children, a path toward a more hopeful future.
